Original Items: One-of-a-kind Set. This set of three powder flasks from the 19th century is a remarkable example of American craftsmanship. Each flask is made of durable brass and sturdy leather, adorned with intricate embossing that speaks to the exceptional attention to detail of the artisans who created them. The flasks not only serve as functional containers for gunpowder, but also as exquisite decorative pieces that showcase the beauty of 19th-century American design.
They are as follows:
- Black painted brass with embossed hunting scene of birds and dog. Measures 6" x 3" with functional spout and release lever.
- Brass with embossed diamond pattern decoration, excellent patina. Measures 9" x 3" with functional spout and release lever.
- Leather with embossed rabbit and fowl decoration, excellent patina. Measures 8" x 3.5" with functional spout and release lever. The release lever on this one is actually marked with AM Flask Co. for the American Flask and Cap Company who was in business from 1857-1865 in New York.
Dating anywhere in the first half of the 19th century, these most likely were made between 1820 and 1850 in England. Offered as found, uncleaned and showing some minor dents, as they came out of the attic, a totally honest all brass powder flask collection with 150 years of age!
